The visit of the project's consultant, Professor Jos\u00e9 Santana Pereira will kick off a series of events with experts covering some major themes of the UNPOP project: political behaviour, populism, narratives of emotion and the far right.<\/p>\n<p>In this,\u00a0<strong>Jos\u00e9 Santana Pereira<\/strong>\u00a0will present the results of his research on the populist attitudes of Portuguese men and women, looking at their prevalence in Portuguese society, the factors that increase or reduce the likelihood of expressing populist attitudes, the different varieties of populist attitudes identifiable in the population, and the impact of populist attitudes in terms of electoral participation\/abstention, voting behaviour and other modes of political participation.<\/p>\n<p>[<u>Capacity limited to the number of places available in the room<\/u>]<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t<p><strong>Bio note<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jos\u00e9 Santana Pereira<\/strong>\u00a0(Nisa, 1982) holds a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute in Florence (IUE, 2012). His research has focused on the field of media effects on public opinion, as well as on the study of national media systems in comparative perspective. Electoral behaviour and political attitudes (namely attitudes towards Europe and, more recently, populist attitudes) are also part of his research interests.<\/p>\n<p>The UNPOP project is coordenated by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ces.uc.pt\/pt\/ces\/pessoas\/investigadoras-es\/cristiano-gianolla\" target=\"_parent\" rel=\"noopener\">Cristiano Gianolla<\/a>\u00a0e\u00a0<strong>Lisete M\u00f3nico\u00a0<\/strong>and institutionally hosted by the Centre for Social Studies and CINEICC - Research Centre in Neuropsychology and Cognitive-Behavioural Intervention - of the University of Coimbra, and financed by the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P.
